Confirmed Tornado Causes Damage in Palm Beach County

Officials with the National Weather Service have confirmed that a small tornado touched down in Palm Beach County Thursday morning.

A nasty storm brought heavy rain and wind gusts to parts of Palm Beach including Boca Raton, downing trees and causing power outages.

Some homes were damaged in the Woodfield Hunt Club where the storm hit around 8 a.m., according to WPTV. No injuries were reported but winds of 50+ mph caused some damage in St. Lucie County.

Meteorologists from the NWS confirmed that a tornado touched down in a Boca Raton neighborhood, with winds around 100 mph.

Footage showed one home in the neighborhood with a large tree resting against its roof.

"I just saw horizontal rain and noise and it was literally pounding," said Sally Stacy, who stood at her window watching the storm. "It was a fascination with watching what was happening outside."
