Postal Worker Struck By Car in Coral Gables

A 72-year-old U.S. Postal Service worker was hospitalized after being struck by a car in Coral Gables Friday morning.

The accident happened just after 8 a.m. in the 200 block of Andalusia Avenue, Coral Gables Police said.

According to police, the vehicle, a Jeep, was trying to parallel park as the pedestran was crossing the street.

The unidentified victim was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center and is expected to survive.

According to the USPS, the man has worked for them for 41 years and had submitted paperwork to retire at the end of December.

The driver of the Jeep stayed at the scene. Police are still investigating the crash.
