Pot-Bellied Pigs, Truck Recovered After Being Stolen in Hollywood

Truck with pigs in back swiped, but both pigs and truck were found

The truck that was stolen in Hollywood while carrying two pot-bellied pigs has been recovered, officials said.

The truck was found in Pompano Beach after a deputy spotted the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, the Broward Sheriff's Office said. The driver, Frantz Aboubaker, attempted to flee but was hit with a taser and taken into custody.

Aboubaker, 30, is being charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and resisting a law enforcement officer, the BSO said.

The owner of a pair of pot-bellied pigs says both swine were also recovered.

Charles Bourquin says he was working in the backyard of a house in the 3100 block of Hollywood Boulevard Wednesday afternoon when his truck was stolen.

"I walked around and my guts dropped," said Bourquin, who said he left the keys in the white 1996 Mazda for five minutes. "You start second guessing yourself, 'what did I do with my truck?'"

As much as Bourquin was worried about the truck, he was also worried about what was in a cage in the back: two pot-bellied pigs.

"It's unbelievable," he said.

Bourquin, who lives in Clewiston and works on sprinkler systems, said he sells the pigs as pets on the side. His truck even has signs and writing with magic marker on its sides that advertise the pigs for sale.

One of the pigs, a female, was recovered Wednesday night, after someone spotted it in the area of 22nd Avenue and Atlanta Street, Bourquin said.  And the other pig, a male, was found by a homeless person and given to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

"I am relieved nothing happened to them. They are just scared like anybody would be scared if they were kidnapped," Bourquin said. "I am relieved, very relieved. Now if we could just work on getting the truck."
