Pregnant Woman Shot, Killed in Miami Gardens

A woman who was seven-months pregnant died on Sunday night after she was struck by a bullet from a vehicle that pulled up alongside her car and opened fire, according to Miami Gardens Police.

Police said they responded to a call at 2:09 p.m.on Sunday in the area of N.W. 182nd Street and N.W. 32nd Avenue and found a 4-door sedan riddled with bullets parked at 18131 N.W. 32nd Ave.

Police said they found in the car an unresponsive female who was shot. She was airlifted to Jackson Ryder Trauma center in extremely critical condition and later died from her injuries. The woman was seven-months pregnant, police said. The baby is in critical condition.

Police identified the woman as 21-year-old Qualecia James. She was the passenger in the vehicle. The driver, whose name was not released, pulled into a driveway at 18131 N.W. 32nd Ave. after the gunfire and called the police.

Witnesses said the victim’s vehicle was traveling northbound on N.W. 32nd Avenue where an unknown type of vehicle pulled up alongside them and fired multiple rounds into their vehicle, according to police.
