The fans have spoken!
The American Airlines Arena was buzzing with excitement as winners made their way on stage at the 2016 Premios Tu Mundo 5th Anniversary show.
Topping the list of winners chosen entirely by viewer choice was actor Rafael Amaya, actresses Fernanda Castillo and Gaby Espino as well as duo Chino & Nacho and Reaggaton artist and Daddy Yankee who got the party started with an energetic performance of his latest single, “Shaky Shaky”.
Hosting duties were shared among six of Spanish television’s most popular stars like Rafael Amaya, Fernanda Castillo, Martiza Rodriguez, Carlos Ponce, David Chocarro and Aracely Arambula.
Famed tv judge, Dr. Ana Maria Polo, one of the most prominent and influential figures in Hispanic TV was honored with the special “Estrella de Tu Mundo” (Star of Your World) award in celebration of her 15 years in television.
Premios Tu Mundo also paid homage to acclaimed Regional Mexican music group Intocable with the special “El Poder en Ti” (The Power in You) award given to artists who use the unlimited power of their fame for good, through their art and generosity.
Singing for peace was Spanish-language television stars Carlos Ponce, Carolina Gaitan, Jeimy Osorio, Laura Flores, and Raul Gonzalez who joined voices on stage for a moving performance of the iconic song "Solo le pido a Dios" (I Only Ask God).
Local
Legendary singing star Jose Feliciano’s treated the audience to powerful performance of “Aleluya” reminding the world that darkness will never be stronger than light, nor pain bigger than hope.
The night also included performances from Reik, Regulo Caro, Sin Banderas, Intocable, Farruko, Daddy Yankee, Chino & Nacho, Luis Enrique and El Mola and Cali y el Dandee featuring Dj Juan Magan among others.
Rio Olympics silver medal gymnast Danell Leyva, Miss Universe runner up Ariadna Gutierrez as well as Reggaeton singer Karol G were among the long list of presenters.
