Principal Gives Lesson in Wrong Way to Rent Car

Lauderdale elementary principle busted for attempted grand theft auto

A Fort Lauderdale principal was in need of a bit of discipline herself after she was busted trying to use her mother's license and credit card to rent a car.

Rendolyn Amaker, 43, was arrested at the Alamo Rent-a-Car at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport last Thursday after police say she tried to pass herself off as her 67-year-old mother to rent a car, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Amaker, principal of North Fork Elementary, was charged with attempted grand theft auto and using a stolen driver's license after she spent the night in jail.

Her attorney, Johnny McCray, said it was all a misunderstanding, and that she was merely renting the car for her sick mother, Ruth Williams.

Amaker, who lives in Tamarac, will keep her principal job but was stripped of her responsibilities regarding financial decisions and authorizations by the school district.
