‘100 Great Ideas' Engages South Florida in Community Issues

With help from the NBCUniversal Foundation's Project Innovation grant, the Miami Foundation was able to engage South Florida on pressing community issues with the 100 Great Ideas project.

100 Great Ideas is a Facebook-based conversation where everyone in South Florida is invited to share an opinion about the best way to solve a pressing community challenge.

"Anyone and everyone can join the conversation to post their ideas and comment on other's ideas … and really be a part of a robust dialogue about solutions that they want to see in that particular topic area," said managing editor Sarah Emmons.

The "100 Great Ideas" Facebook feedback project is contributing to community-driven changes in housing affordability, public transportation, local library systems and airport services.

"During our campaign at Miami International Airport, individuals suggested ideas such as having water bottle fill stations and having nursing pods for nursing mothers, and those are ideas we've seen implemented," Emmons said.
