A serial killer who may have murdered as many as 90 victims throughout the United States has confessed to at least six slayings in South Florida but so far authorities haven't been able to confirm them.

Samuel Little, 78, has provided investigators details on a "multitude" of murders he may have committed between 1970 and 2005 in Texas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Illinois, Ohio, California, Indiana, Arizona, New Mexico, South Carolina, according to the Wise County Sheriff’s Office in Texas.

According to a Tuesday news release from the FBI, Little has confessed to 10 Florida murders, including six in South Florida, but all remain uncorroborated.

The confessions include: a white female killed in Homestead in 1970 or 1971; a black female, age 22, possibly called Linda, killed in Miami in 1971; a black male, age 18, possibly called Mary Ann or Marianne, killed in Miami in 1971 or 1972; a black female, age 28, who possibly worked at Homestead Air Force Base, killed in Miami in 1971 or 1972; a black female, age 23 or 24, possibly called Emily who may have worked at the University of Miami, killed in Miami in the mid 1970s; and a white female, age 45, possibly called Sarah and possibly from Massachusetts, killed in Kendall in 1973.

Four other unmatched confessions in Florida involve women killed in Fort Myers, Tampa Bay, Perry and Plant City, FBI officials said.

Little began confessing to crimes across the country, telling investigators he may have killed as many as 90 people, after he lost an appeal to the life sentences he is serving for strangling three women in California. In all three cases, the women had been beaten and then strangled, their bodies dumped in an alley, a dumpster, and a garage.

The FBI said they have confirmed 34 killings so far with many more pending confirmation. If the confessions prove true, Little "may be among the most prolific serial killers in U.S. history," the FBI said.

Little remembers his victims and killings in great detail but has trouble with dates, officials said.

"He remembers where he was, and what car he was driving. He draws pictures of many of the women he killed. He is less reliable, however, when it comes to remembering dates," the FBI release said.

Little remains incarcerated in Ector County, Texas.
