I-195 Reopens After Protesters March Back Toward Wynwood

Demonstrators calling themselves the "Dream Defenders" staged another protest in midtown Miami, which started at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The protesters moved off I-195 and were marching back toward Wynwood Sunday evening. The demonstrators originally started in the area of NW 2nd Avenue and 25th Street, marching onto I-195. Florida Highway Patrol had shut down the Julia Tuttle Causeway due to the protesters. The highway later re-opened. They then shut down North Miami Avenue.

The previous protest on Friday shut down Interstate 195 in both directions, blocking area streets and snarling traffic for hours. The group was upset over the lack of action on the Reefa Hernandez case along with the grand jury decisions in Ferguson, Missouri and New York.
