  • It’s Tuesday, April 9th – and NBC 6 has the top six stories you need to know for the day.

Deputies have recovered two puppies who were caught on camera being taken from a store along Florida’s Treasure Coast.

Officials from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office posted a photo with two deputies holding the Goldendoodle and Red Husky puppies that were taken from the Paradise Puppies Boutique in Port St. Lucie last Thursday.

The department’s Facebook page said two people were detained for questioning – but did not confirm if they were the two women seen on surveillance camera entering the store and later leaving in a black SUV.

An employee at the store told NBC affiliate WPTV that she went into a back room briefly after the two women entered the store, later telling police that when she returned the women had left with the animals.

MCSO says the puppies are in protective custody and appear to be in good shape.
