Racial Viral Video Sparks Storm at Santaluces High School

The video has been widely viewed on worldstarhiphop.com and elsewhere

A viral video made by two female students who make numerous derogatory comments about black students at Santaluces High School has sparked quite a controversy in Palm Beach County and beyond.

The two girls, students at the high school in Lantana, spend about four minutes saying mean, nasty things about their black classmates, which has been widely viewed on worldstarhiphop.com, YouTube and elsewhere.

“They can’t brush their hair, or flip it … or wash it,” one of the girls says.

Several students said the two students in question have been suspended, but school administrators would not confirm that.

Still, classmates said, the damage has been done.

“I think Santaluces is better than this and people don’t need to feel it’s a bad school,” one student told NBC 6.

“They don’t need to stoop that low,” said another student, who said she thinks the video stains the reputation of the school.

The video was removed by YouTube as a violation of the site’s policy prohibiting hate speech, according to The Palm Beach Post.

“The Internet is a great tool for communication, but it can also be misused and abused,” said Andrew Rosenkranz of the Anti-Defamation League, who says the incident shows the need for more cyberbullying prevention programs in schools. The ADL provides them for free.

“It’s not cute. It’s not funny. It’s degrading,” Rosenkranz said. “It is meant to hurt people.”
