Heavy Rain Brings Flooding to Miami Beach

Don't tell coastal South Florida that today was a nice day!

Even though communities west of I-95 have had a partly cloudy and generally rain-free Thursday, rain hugged coastal locations of the metro area beginning early in the day.

Coastal Broward County near Pompano Beach received just under two inches of rain in the morning. Then the storm "took its talents to South Beach" by noon and dumped nearly three inches of precipitation in the City of Miami Beach, leading to considerable urban flooding in the area.

The rainstorm ended around 2 p.m. but the flood waters have been slow to subside. By midafternoon, all rain showers had departed metro South Florida and the Florida Keys.

A stationary front may still trigger additional rain, mainly for the Florida Keys, overnight and into Friday.
