Reigning Key West Fantasy Fest Queen Arrested on Drug Charges

Surrey Westrupp was charged with intent to distribute and possession charges.

The reigning Key West Fantasy Fest queen was arrested on drug charges in Key West.

Surrey Westrupp, 31, the queen of the 10-day costuming and masking festival was arrested along with Charles Fritz, 34, on Friday when the Key West Police Department responded to a home in reference to narcotic-related complaints.

Westrupp faces charges including possession and intent to distribute charges, while Fritz faces possession of marijuana over 20 grams and 11 counts of drug paraphernalia. It wasn't immediately known if they had attorneys.

Fritz was inside the home when authorities arrived. An officer said his breath and his clothes smelled of freshly burnt marijuana, according to Key West police.

Westrupp arrived at the residence on her moped when police were performing a sweep of the house. She was detained for the drug paraphernalia that was located in her bedroom, police said. She also had cocaine and several different pills in a prescription pill bottle when police arrested her, the report said.

Officers found more drug-related items and a green leafy substance inside the home, an incident report said.

Two other men were also present during the arrests, but they denied knowing anything about the narcotics inside, the incident report said.

Fritz admitted the marijuana and the paraphernalia were his, police said. He showed police more marijuana inside a rear bedroom, the report said.

Fritz and Westrupp were transported to the Key West Police Department for processing. Police say that the amount of baggies and residue at the home is consistent with that of street level narcotics sales.
