Officials have confirmed the body found last month in a Palm Beach County pond was that of a man who had been missing for over two decades.
NBC affiliate WPTV-TV reports that the remains of William Earl Moldt were what was found inside of a vehicle that was found in the retention pond off of Moon Bay Circle in the city of Wellington, which was found after a resident in a nearby home called police and said he found the car.
Crime scene investigators say the vehicle appeared to have been submerged for a long period of time and, after pulling it out of the water, found the skeletal remains that were later identified as Moldt.
Moldt, who was 40 years old at the time of his disappearance, was reported missing on November 8, 1997 after he did not return home following a night out at a nightclub in the area.
