Firefighters rescued a man whose head got caught in exercise equipment at The W hotel on Fort Lauderdale Beach.
Capt. Greg May of the Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue Department told the South Florida Sun Sentinel the incident happened Wednesday as the man was doing a shoulder workout in the hotel's gym.
May says the man apparently fell off the machine and his head got caught in a weight machine. A fire-rescue team was able to manipulate his head out of the machine by using a bar. The man was about 60 years old.
Officials say the man had significant injuries but was alert when he was taken to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale.
