Residents Lasso 8-Foot Gator at Neighborhood Pool

Extension cords used to tie up large reptile in Oakland Park

An eight-foot long gator tried to beat the heat with a dip in a neighborhood pool in Oakland Park but his swim was cut short early after residents tied him up.

An amateur video shows one unidentified man wrangling the gator with ropes and extension cords outside the apartment complex on Dixie Highway.

Residents called police after they had the reptile tied up, and by the time police arrived, about 30 people were gathered around the animal, though no one would admit to trapping it.

No one was hurt in the incident, and a trapper who removed the gator said it looked like it had been fed by humans, which police advise against doing.
