The killings have cooled off for a few days but the reward continues to increase as officials hunt down the sick cat butcher of South Florida.
The Crime Stoppers reward now sits at $7,500 for any info leading to the arrest of the person or persons who have killed 26 cats in the past few weeks.
Though Crime Stoppers has received nearly 30 tips, no arrests have been made in the savage slayings, in which the cats are killed, mutilated and tossed on their owners' lawns.
The bodies of beloved pets have been found throughout Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay, and owners have been urged to keep their cats inside until the case is closed.
Law enforcement officials insist they're doing everything to capture the cat cutthroat.
"These individuals are obviously dangerous individuals because they're mutilating these innocent animals," Miami Dade Police Lt. Nancy Perez said last week. "They are helpless little animals. We just want to make sure we bring them to justice for what they've done."
