A South Florida sheriff is turning up the heat on thieves who steal boat motors and marine electronics.

Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay said he will match a $2,500 Crime Stoppers reward for tipsters that lead to the arrest of boat electronics and motor thieves.

That means people will receive $5,000 for one call that leads to an arrest.

Ramsay said the thefts are rampant in the middle and lower Keys, with crimes occurring all over with no real pattern.

If you have any information about these crimes, call Crime Stoppers of the Florida Keys at 1-800-346-TIPS.
