Ring Thief Robs Blind Woman

Stolen ring is worth $25,000

Broward authorities are on the hunt for a shameless thief who robbed a blind woman of a 3-karat diamond ring last month.

Fort Lauderdale police say 71-year-old Theresa Lukas was shopping at a local Publix supermarket when the would-be thief befriended her in the parking lot.

Lukas, who is legally blind, said the white female looked familiar to her so she decided to chat with her. The woman eventually smooth-talked her way into getting Lukas to hop in her car by talking about back surgery.

The woman then started putting lotion on Lukas' hand saying it would help the elderly woman feel better. that's when Lukas noticed her ring, valued at around $25,000 was missing.

The suspect then kicked the elderly woman out of the car and sped off.

The suspect is described as a white female, 5'2", approximately 110 pounds, and brown hair. She was last seen driving a 4-door Toyota that was black or dark blue in color.
