Scared off by police sirens, two masked, armed robbers ran off just seconds after taking three Pompano Beach pawn shop employees into a wooded area and threatening to kill them, authorities said.
The robbers held up Value Pawn employees Amaral Azor, 33, Caridad Novaton, 42, and Lily Quinones, 25, as they were closing the store at 3181 N. Dixie Highway, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
The victims told police the men tried to take money from the store's safe, but were unable to because it self-locks after business hours. That's when the men took them out to a wooded area next to the business, told them to get on their knees, and threatened to kill them, police said.
Surveillance video shows the robbers exiting the store with the employees, ordering them to walk to the back parking lot, and tying their hands. The men then take the employees into the store, and walk out again, taking the victims to the wooded lot.
Police are looking for two men between 5'10" and 6' tall, weighing about 160 pounds. The men were dressed in hooded sweatshirts and pants, and were wearing backpacks during the robbery.
Anyone with additional information is urged to call BSO robbery detective Trevor Goodwin at 954-321-4270 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
