Rolex Watch, Smith & Wesson Handgun Stolen in Deerfield Beach Break-in: BSO

The suspect caused thousands of dollars in damage as he broke into Mathew Ladd's home, the Broward Sheriff's Office said

Authorities said Tuesday they are searching for a burglar who stole a Rolex watch with significant sentimental value and a 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun from a Deerfield Beach home.

The suspect ransacked Mathew Ladd’s home at 1424 Southwest 1st Terrace on Dec. 16 at about 9:30 a.m., the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

The suspect attempted to break in through multiple impact windows, causing thousands of dollars in damage. Once inside, he swiped the handgun and the victim’s Rolex, which is silver with a black face and silver dial – and has the words “Professional Solutions On Time On Budget Advanced Roofing” engraved on the back, the BSO said.

“The watch was given to Ladd as a gift and holds significant sentimental value,” the agency said in a news release.

The break-in was captured on camera by a neighbor’s surveillance cameras, the BSO said.

Detectives believe the suspect pawned the expensive Rolex at Swap Shop in Fort Lauderdale – where an unknown male bought it on Jan. 17, according to the BSO.

The video also recorded a black Nissan Altima driving past Ladd’s home multiple times during the break-in. The BSO said it believes that vehicle was involved in the crime.

Authorities ask anyone with information on the case to call BSO Det. Brian Walker at 954-480-4283 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Crime Stoppers is offering up to $3,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
