Barricaded Man Surrenders After SWAT Team Responds to SW Miami-Dade Home

A SWAT team responded to a barricaded man in a home in southwest Miami-Dade Friday.

Officers responded to the home in the area of Southwest 216th Street and Southwest 120th Avenue, officials said.

Authorities said a family member went to check on the 60-year-old man, who refused to open the door.

When officers arrived the man threatened that he would kill any that came inside.

Footage showed more than a dozen officers at the scene along with an armored SWAT truck.

Officials said the man surrendered without incident after five hours of negotiations.

Once inside the home, officers found two dead dogs.

The man has been identified as Johnnie Bowling, who faces animal cruelty charges.
