Security Guard Arrested for Selling Pot to Detective: Police

A security guard was arrested Thursday for selling marijuana to an undercover detective, the Fort Lauderdale Police Department said.

Jeffrey Steve Mincy, a Navarro Security guard, was charged with one count of delivery of cannabis.

Mincy, 22, was one of several security guards who had been assigned to Beach Place, located at 17 South Atlantic Blvd., due to issues with illegal activity on the property.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department Special Investigations Division was conducting operations at the property when it made the arrest.

In December 2013, the City of Fort Lauderdale Nuisance Abatement Board deemed Beach Place a place of nuisance due to continued problems, including narcotics activity. In order to clean up the property, officials recommended increasing the number of security guards at the complex.
