Seijas to Sit for Deposition…Again

Miami-Dade commissioner attends proceeding after walking out on last one

Embattled Miami-Dade County Commissioner Natacha Seijas is expected to give a deposition Monday, just days after walking out of a deposition after she became upset that a Miami Herald reporter was present.

Seijas, who is facing a possible recall election in March, walked out of a deposition last Thursday because the reporter wouldn't leave, but a judge ruled Friday that media would be allowed to attend the proceeding.

After the deposition, Seijas will go before Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Amy Stee Donner as she continues her fight to stop the recall election, set for March 15.

Seijas alleges the recall petitions are invalid and don't support a vote. Seijas claims there are "potentially fatal errors" in the 4,373 certified signatures on her recall petition, which she believes weren't scrutinized closely enough by the Clerk's Office.

An 18-year veteran of the county commission, Seijas represents Hialeah and Miami Lakes.
