The Miami Marlins will begin a road series with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday evening.

Miami has dropped four games in baseball and holds a 5-16 record on the season. While that record is not the worst in baseball, Miami is in last place in the division. The Dodgers have opened the 2018 season with a 10-10 record and have won two straight games.

Jarlin Garcia will start for the Marlins in the series opener and will try to keep his strong season going. Garcia has a sparkling 0.86 E.R.A this season, which easily paces Miami's staff. Garcia opened the year as a reliever, but has settled into a regular role in the rotation. The 25-year old had some issues with control in his last start and will need to be more efficient this time around.

Dillon Peters will be Miami's starter in the middle game of the series. Peters is 2-2 with a 6.98 E.R.A so far this season. The lefty has been allowing too many baserunners, which is a recipe for disaster against the Dodgers. With one of the more talented lineups in all of baseball against him, Peters has to avoid a big inning. The Marlins have struggled to score runs this season and may not be able to rebound from a big early deficit.

In the series finale, Trevor Richards will be on the mound for the Marlins. Richards has been inconsistent so far and has also had some control issues. The 24-year old walked six his last time out and could not make it out of the fourth inning. Los Angeles has Clayton Kershaw scheduled to pitch in this game, which means Richards will have to be at the top of his game.

Lewis Brinson clubbed three home runs during the series in Milwaukee. Brinson had been struggling for a couple weeks before the series and will now look to continue hitting in Los Angeles. The 23-year old has no extra-base hits this season, outside of those three home runs.

Monday's series opener is scheduled to begin at 10:10 p.m.
