Police Search for Man Who Sexually Assaulted Woman in NW Miami-Dade Hotel Room

Police are searching for a man who forced his way into a woman's northwest Miami-Dade hotel room, brandished a box cutter and sexually assaulted her.

The victim, who is not a local resident, told police she was in her room Monday afternoon at the Clarion Inn & Suites at 5301 NW 36th Street, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department.

There was a knock at her door and when she opened it, the man forced his way in and brandished an orange box cutter before sexually assaulting her, police said. Afterward, he fled in an unknown direction.

Police released a sketch of the suspect Tuesday night in hopes that the public could identify the man, who police say was not a guest at the hotel.

He's described as a black male with a light-to-medium complexion, 20 to 24 years old, thin build, who stands approximately 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-6. He has a black/natural afro, with a mustache and beard, and was last seen wearing a multi-colored t-shirt, faded jeans and white tennis shoes.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers and 305-471-TIPS or Miami-Dade police detectives at the sexual crimes unit at 305-715-3300.
