Shakira Visits WDW's Animal Kingdom to Promote ‘Zootopia'

Following a hiatus, 39-year-old Colombian Grammy Award-winning singer Shakira returns to the spotlight lending her voice in Disney's animated flick "Zootopia" as the sassy and curvy singing giraffe Gazelle.

The mother of two dropped by Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom Lodge where she had the chance to pose with Mickey Mouse, as well as talk about how much she loved being part of this project.

"I've always loved Disney movies and it's cool that I can now brag to my son about my connection to Mickey Mouse," Shakira said.

The Colombia songstress admits she found the theme of the movie very inspiring and said she also found a lot of her personality in many of the characters especially her character Gazelle, a pop-singer and model in the world of "Zootopia."

"When the director first presented me with Gazelle, I felt identified with her because she's opinionated like me," Shakira said. "When they told me about Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin), the bunny who is a little creature with big dreams, it reminded me a lot of my own story."

The animated, kid-friendly thriller tackles on the issues of identity and race in a modern day mammal-centric metropolis where no matter what species you are you can be anything.

Besides giving life to Gazelle, Shakira also lends her musical talent on the film's soundtrack with her latest single "Try Anything," which highlights the central message of the film.

"Zootopia," already a hit in Spain and Latin America, as well as several cities in Europe, debuts in the United States Friday, March 4.
