Shocking Video of Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle in Little Haiti

Shocking video has surfaced of a driver mowing down a pedestrian standing on the sidewalk, then hitting the gas. Police caught up to that driver, and now they're reviewing the video to make a decision about criminal charges.

After the pedestrian flew over a fence, she landed on top of a maroon minivan parked at a car dealership. Miraculously, she survived after a near-death encounter with the out-of-control car.

"I saw a crash and I stopped because I panicked a bit. I was in shock," said Cedric Miller, witness.

Miller left in a state of disbelief. He was driving on 79th Street around Northwest 4th Avenue in Little Haiti Friday morning, when he saw the motorist, Trenton Lloyd Jackson, slam into the pedestrian and then take off.

The pedestrian, desperate to get out of the way, attempted to climb the fence but to no avail.

According to witnesses, Jackson fled but he didn't get far. Miami Police were able to apprehend him at his home several blocks away. He faces a charge of leaving the scene of a crash with bodily injury

Jackson was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he was Baker-Acted. Police are still investigating what caused him to lose control.

The victim suffered a broken foot but is expected to be okay.
