Man Shot And Killed at South Miami Market

Police are investigating a shooting in South Miami that left one person dead Friday morning.

Officers from South Miami Police responded to the scene at the South Miami Market off Southwest 70th Street and 59th Avenue around 11:30 a.m. Once inside, they found a man who had been killed and the case was handed over to Miami-Dade Police.

Police said the man was involved in a dispute inside the store when he was shot.

The identity of the victim wasn't released by police but family members identified him as 22-year-old Markeith Nickles.

"Who killed my son inside this store? We need to find out who killed my son inside this store," mother Shakeshia Nickles said. "Exactly, there's cameras so somebody is going to say something. Something is going to be out. Something is going to be done."

Police said they're looking for suspects. No other information was immediately known.
