1 Shot in Parking Lot at Walgreens in Pembroke Pines

Two men had been fighting over a parking space just before one of them shot the other in the parking lot of a Walgreens in Pembroke Pines on Monday, witnesses say.

Kenneth Parris, 71, of Davie, shot Ray Lopez, 51, of Coral Springs, outside the drug store near 160th Avenue and Pines Boulevard, after a traffic incident on westbound Pines led to a confrontation in the parking lot, police say.

Lopez was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police have not called this a "road rage" incident, but witnesses told NBC 6 South Florida that the men were arguing over a parking spot.

Parris will face charges in relation to the shooting. No other suspects are believed to be at large.

The police activity in the area forced some road closures. Westbound Pines Boulevard was closed at West Fork Plaza Way, but has since been reopened.
