Man Shot to Death During Dispute at Pollo Tropical in Davie

One person died after shots were fired during an argument at a Pollo Tropical in Davie Friday afternoon, officials said.

The incident happened at the restaurant located on University Drive south of I-595. 

Two men got into an argument inside the restaurant and the fight continued outside. The men got into a scuffle then one of them pulled out a gun and pulled the trigger, Davie police said. 

"The victim was shot at least one time in the chest," said Capt. Dale Engle, Davie police.

The victim's co-worker placed in a pick-up truck and drove him to the Chevron gas station across the street to get help. The victim was transported to Broward Health Medical Center where he later died. 

The gunman is in custody. Police said the men did not know each other. Their identities have not been released.

Detectives were trying to figure out what started the deadly argument. No formal charges were filed. 

Pollo Tropical reacted to the deadly shooting, tweeting "We are heartbroken to learn that the victim in this senseless shooting has died, and our hearts go out to his family and loved ones."
