Shots Fired Outside Westchester Home After Attempted Early Morning Motorcycle Theft

Miami-Dade Police are searching for two men they say tried to steal a motorcycle from a Westchester home before the owner opened fire and scared them away.

Officials confirmed that around 4 a.m. Tuesday morning, the two alleged thieves went to the house near the intersection of Southwest 86th Court and 12th Street.

Two men inside the home heard the scene outside and opened fire on the thieves, who fled the scene in two separate vehicles, a white van and a white Nissan Altima. One bullet struck the door of a nearby home.

Neighbors woke up to the sound of gunfire, with some not being suprised this took place.

"I heard eight or nine gun shots go offf and was surprised," said Edrey Machado. "I would've done the same thing. You know people trying to steal nowadays."

Both were described as black males between the ages of 19 and 25. One was reportedly wearing a white t-shirt and red shorts, while the other was wearing a gray stripped shirt and dark shorts.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
