“Sincere” Phony Landlord Stole Residents' Rent

Man stole more than $5,000 in rent by pretending to be the landlord

Benthola Sincere might want to look into a name change.

North Miami Police believe Sincere was less than sincere with tenants of an apartment complex who gave him thousands of dollars in rent thinking the crook was the property manager.

Instead, it turns out Sincere was pretending to be the landlord and pocketing the cash, police said.

Now the hunt is on for the man with the "Sincere name," but insincere intentions.

Detectives claim 27-year-old Sincere would meet potential residents at the King Apartments and enter verbal lease agreements.

He would request cash deposits only, but he never owned any of the units. Police say they have talked to several victims, all with similar stories of being scammed by Sincere.

He made off with more than $5,000 and is wanted on grand theft and fraud charges.

Anyone with information on Sincere's whereabouts, are being asked to contact the North Miami Police Department at 305-891-8111.
