Sinkhole Traps Car in Hollywood

A sinkhole trapped a resident's car in the city of Hollywood.

Hollywood Police Department posted a picture of the car submerged inside the sinkhole on Twitter Tuesday.

"Public Works enroute to a sinkhole at 58th & Thomas. Drive Safely!" the department tweeted.

Sinkholes rarely happen but are most common in Florida than throughout the rest of the nation. Severe rain may impact sinkholes as water drains the subsurface of the hole. Sinkholes are formed as rocks dissolve and the land above an impacted space collapses due to lack of structural support.

No information has been released regarding the danger of the sinkhole and no injuries have been reported.
