Miami Beach Police are looking for a pair of suspects who roughed up and robbed a man who was skateboarding home from work.

The robbery happened just before 5 a.m. Monday as the victim, a South Beach tattoo artist, was heading to his North Beach home on 71st Street, police said.

The 25-year-old victim took the bus part of the way and was skateboarding the rest of the way when a dark colored SUV pulled alongside him and the suspects asked for a cigarette.

Though he felt something bad was going to happen, the victim gave them a cigarette and hoped to continue home. The suspects drove forward but then got out of the van and approached the victim, who started running toward a gas station at 71st Street and Harding Avenue.

The suspects caught up to the victim and attacked him, taking his backpack and skateboard before fleeing the scene. The victim had bruising, cuts and a finger nail torn off.

"The two guys get out and as I'm skating towards them, all of a sudden I get a blow to my temple," the victim said.

A clerk at the gas station witnessed the attack and saw the suspects punching the man in the face and throwing him to the ground as they kicked him. The clerk told the suspects he was going to call the police and the suspects claimed the victim pulled a knife on them, the report said.

The victim said he wants justice and, "Everybody else out there just to be aware and especially the people who work out here on South Beach."
