SoBe Hotel Makes Top 10 List of Filthy Flophouses

Atlantic Beach Hotel does Miami proud on annual dirty digs list

South Beach may be in no rush to clean up its act, and it looks like neither are its hotels.

For the second year in a row, Miami Beach has made its way onto Trip Advisor's "Ten Dirtiest Hotels in America" list.

The culprit this time: the Atlantic Beach Hotel at 3400 Collins Ave., according to the list released Tuesday.

The two star Atlantic Beach Hotel came in at number six on the list, with reviewers describing a stay there as somewhere between "horrible" and the "worst experience of my life."

As if the smells and filth weren't enough, some reviewers found the amenities less than pleasant.

"The shower curtain had an unidentified gelatinous substance, the air conditioner wasn't working and being held up by tape, there was a big hole in the wall, the sheets weren't cleaned," one reviewer wrote.

"Its horrible...elevator broke, smelled bad, air conditioner not working, blood stains on walls, dirty room, my feet were black from walking in the room, paint chipping, windows stuck open, no tv channels, remote didnt work, beds are old, matresses well used!!! dirty pillows, stains on sheets, no internet, lock on door was broke, but had a really big closet!!" wrote another.

Out of 53 Trip Advisor reviews, 33 are in the "terrible" category, and 90 percent of travelers don't recommend staying there.

Despite all the mess at the Atlantic Beach Hotel, this year's list is actually an improvement from last year, when two South Beach hotels were featured on the top ten list.

Those would be the Parisian Hotel and Suites and the Continental Oceanfront Hotel, which both made it off the list this year.
