Social Media Prankster Who Set Off Fireworks in Miami-Dade Dollar Tree Store Arrested in California: Police

Dorian G. Thomas, 24, was taken into custody in Los Angeles on charges including arson and criminal mischief

A social media prankster who was filmed setting off fireworks inside a Miami-Dade Dollar Tree store back on the Fourth of July has been arrested in California, police said Thursday.

Dorian G. Thomas, 24, was taken into custody in Los Angeles on charges including arson and criminal mischief, Miami-Dade Police officials said.

Video posted to Instagram by Doogang3x showed Thomas walking into the store on South Dixie Highway in Palmetto Bay with the lit firework before he placed it on the floor. Employees watched as the firework filled the store with smoke and Thomas ran out of the store.

Police said Thomas and an accomplice, who recorded the incident, fled in a black Honda Accord. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and extinguished the fireworks.

Detectives were able to track down Thomas to Los Angeles "through investigative means," officials said. He was being extradited back to Miami-Dade.

The accomplice hasn't been found.

The Instagram account that posted the clip mostly featured videos of the man causing scenes in restaurants and convenience stores.
