Son of ‘Hunger 9' Activist Shot Multiple Times in NW Miami-Dade

The son of an activist against gun violence was shot multiple times in northwest Miami-Dade early Monday.

McArthur Richards was one of the "Hunger 9," a group that is a part of the Miami-based Circle of Brotherhood that embarked on a hunger strike for 21 days back in March to raise awareness about gun violence in South Florida.

Richards' son, 29-year-old McArthur Richards Jr., was shot in the back several times before 2:50 a.m. in the 2000 block of NW 71st Street.

He was transported to the hospital in critical but stable condition, according to Miami-Dade Police.
