Queens will soon be looking for a new home as one of South Beach’s most iconic gay bars is relocating.
After nearly three decades stationed on the corner of 12th street and Ocean Drive, the legendary Palace bar has announced that the venue is “in a state of transition.”
“The future of the bar has been challenged by the sale of the building and the pending renovations by new owners,” the bar said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.
The Palace reassured its patrons that its doors will not be closing permanently, but the 1200 Ocean Drive building may soon be undergoing changes.
Infinity Real Estate group announced the purchased the South Beach location last July.
"Acquiring 1200 Ocean Drive is consistent with our strategy to own irreplaceable mixed-use properties in the most sought after urban districts in the United States," said Infinity’s Investment Director David Berg in a statement.

Palace is Ocean Drive’s only and longest-running LGBT bar. Its rainbow-painted crosswalks, daily over-the-top drag shows and location directly across from the "gay beach" became a fixture as a meeting place for the LGBT community for 29 years.
