South Florida Man Confesses to 3 Murders After Arrest

Authorities in South Florida say a burglary suspect who was arrested for firing shots at responding police officers separately has confessed to three murders.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said in a statement Thursday that detectives linked 18-year-old Joel Rodriguez to three murders.

The sheriff's office says Rodriguez was arrested Thursday after he fired shots at Latana police officers responding to a burglary at an apartment complex involving Rodriguez and three others.

Detectives say the weapon used was the same one used to kill a Wellington, Florida man last month and two West Palm Beach men earlier this month.

The sheriff's office says that Rodriguez confessed to shooting the men during robberies.

Rodriguez has been charged with first-degree murder.

Two of the other men apprehended Thursday also face charges.
