South Florida Man Removed From Bond Hearing After Outbursts

A Hollywood musician was removed from his Broward bond hearing Wednesday after several outbursts, including one in which he starts drumming on a podium.

Timothy Demattio, 34, appeared before Broward Judge John Hurley after being arrested Tuesday for shoplifting at a Hallandale Beach Walgreens, according to an arrest report.

Police said a Walgreens employee saw Demattio stuff nutritional supplements down his pants and walk into the bathroom. The employee went into the bathroom after Demattio and asked him for the supplements, so he gave them back.

He then walked out of the bathroom while cursing the Walgreens employee and kicking at merchandise and breaking a 12-pack of Coca-Cola, police said. Demattio walked out of Walgreens to a nearby Publix, where police caught up with him and arrested him on charges of petit theft and damaged property.

Bond court footage from Wednesday shows Demattio yelling at Judge Hurley. He tells the judge that he was not shoplifting and that his constitutional rights are being violated.

Meanwhile, a prosecutor tells Hurley that Demattio is currently on probation for grand theft as Demattio is seen yelling with his microphone silenced.

When the microphone is turned on again so the judge can address the defense attorney, Demattio tries to catch the judge's attention by raising his hand and yelling, "Sidebar!"

The microphone is silenced again and another defense attorney calls Demattio's mental health into question. As Hurley speaks with the defense attorney, corrections officers can be seen forcibly removing Demattio from the room.

Demattio's bond was revoked. He is being held at the Broward Main Jail.
