South Florida Politicians React to U.S. Strikes on Syria

The U.S., France and Britain authorized military strikes in Syria to punish President Bashar Assad for a suspected chemical attack against civilians and to deter him from doing it again, President Trump announced Friday.

Several local politicians reacted to President Trump’s announcement.

“It’s the absolute right thing to do,” said Gov. Rick Scott on Twitter. “Along side our European allies, we must do what the previous Administration wouldn’t, which is respond swiftly and forcibly to use of chemical weapons.”

Sen. Bill Nelson also said he supports Friday’s air strike, “because Assad must be held accountable for the use of chemical weapons.”

Rep. Carlos Curbelo posted on Twitter that he “strongly supports” the strikes ordered by President Trump.
