Stoneman Douglas High Teacher Competes in ‘American Ninja Warrior'

NBC’s American Ninja Warrior is back in Miami. The show was taping at Bayfront Park Friday with a very special contestant.

Gabe Stewart, a 23-year-old history teacher and coach at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland is among the competitors in season ten.

The Miami episode will pay tribute to the victims of the Valentine’s Day shooting.

“You know, we can still have fun even after the tragedy, we can have a good time and enjoy life,” said Stewart. “Don’t take this as a negative thing, take it as a life experience and continue to move on.”

More than 100 contestants in Miami are hoping to ring the infamous buzzer and make it to Las Vegas. Season 10 will also make stops in Los Angeles, Dallas, Indianapolis, Philadelphia and Minneapolis. The winner will take home a grand prize of $1 million. The new season begins May 30th.
