Student From Somerset Academy in Pembroke Pines Arrested for Shooting Threat

The 19-year-old student at Somerset Academy North was arrested on a charge of making a false report concerning the use of a firearm in a violent manner

A student at a Pembroke Pines high school was arrested after he made a comment while in class about shooting his enemies, officials said.

Jeremy Ossa, a 19-year-old student at Somerset Academy North, was arrested on a charge of making a false report concerning the use of a firearm in a violent manner, Pembroke Pines Police said Monday.

According to police, the teen was in class Friday when he said "I'm going to go to the pawn shop, buy a sniper (rifle), and shoot my enemies from the recent past." Several students overheard the comments and alerted a teacher.

Ossa admitted to making the comments but said he was joking, and knew it was wrong to say them, police said. He didn't have any weapons and said he didn't have any access to weapons, police said.

The student was booked into jail.
