Students Transported to Hospital After Taking Medication at Miami School

Six school children in Miami were transported to the hospital as a precaution after becoming sick from taking medication Friday morning.

The students from Liberty City Elementary School were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital shortly before 11 a.m. after a fifth grader brought his ADHD medication called Clonidine to school and shared it with the other students, officials said.

All those transported are expected to be okay and parents were notified. It was enough of a scare for several parents who came to the school to make sure their children were okay.

"As soon as I heard it my heart just, I was like hell no, I need to go get to my child right now so I'm here, even if I had to walk here, run here, skip here, I'm here," parent Laquesha Fulwood said.

"They said everything was okay but I was like no, something is going on, that's why I came to check," parent Janae Brown said.

The school district says it will consider disciplinary action for the child who brought the drugs and shared them.
