Suh To Sign With Dolphins: Report

Ndamukong Suh will reportedly join Miami on Tuesday once the free-agent period begins

The Miami Dolphins are on the verge of adding a big piece to the roster with the signing of Ndamukong Suh, according to a report from ESPN.

Suh's deal will reportedly be worth roughly $114 million with $60 million of that guaranteed over a six-year span. The contract is historically large and is only topped in the NFL by previous deals for franchise quarterbacks. The previous salary record for a non-quarterback was held by J.J Watt of the Houston Texans.

Suh who has been to four Pro Bowls is regarded as one of the premier defensive players in the game. The tackle should make a significant impact on Miami's defense and improve those around him as well.

At only 28, Suh is likely to have several years of high productivity ahead of him. The DT had spent his entire career with the Detroit Lions since they made him the second overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. In five seasons with Detroit, Suh compiled 36 sacks and 239 tackles while remaining consistently disruptive on defense.

Suh does come with behavior issues however. In his short career, the tackle has been suspended once, and has been fined seven times for player-safety violations. This behavior coincides with his aggressive on-field play. Suh was even voted as the dirtiest player in the NFL by fellow players back in 2013.

After the final game of the 2014 season, Suh was suspended for stepping on Aaron Rodgers. That suspension however was reversed prior to the Lions' playoff match up. Suh would go on to suit up for the Wild-Card game, in what appears to have been his last game as a member of the Lions.

Miami still has salary cap room and could continue to make more moves after free agency begins on Tuesday.
