Sunrise Boy Struck and Killed While Skateboarding

Driver says he didn't see boy.

A 14-year-old boy from Sunrise was struck and killed by a motorists as he skateboarded on Pine Island Road just before 10 p.m. Saturday night, police confirmed.

In a statement released today, the Broward Sheriff’s Office identified the boy as Brandon Campbell.

They also identified the driver of the Honda Accord that was traveling southbound on Pine Island Road as William Corsover of Coral Springs.

Police say that Corsover told them he did not see anyone when he was turning westbound on McNab Road in Tamparac but that when he realized he hit something he turned his car around and returned to the scene.

Corsover remained at the scene and cooperated with detecives, they say.

Rescue units took Campbell to the North Broward Medical Center but he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Police closed traffic on the street for several hours while they investigated. They are still asking for any witnesses to call BSO Traffic Homicide Unit Detective Anthony Morales at 954-321-4840.

No charges have yet been filed.
