Super Bowl Host Committee Unveils New Images

Super Bowl 50 is right around the corner, but South Florida's Super Bowl Bid Committee already has their eyes on the future.

Ahead of their upcoming visit to San Francisco for the Super Bowl next weekend, the committee held a press conference at Sun Life Stadium Friday morning to provide the latest updates in their bid to bring the Super Bowl to Miami.

The committee unveiled never-before-seen renderings of the proposed Super Bowl Park, from the official South Florida bid for the 2019 and 2020 Super Bowl

One of the committee's latest updates is a Super Bowl Park Concert Extravaganza. Bayfront Park Amphitheater is expected to host a "NFL Superstage," where fans can enjoy from a wide array of local and national talent. As performances are taking place, fireworks will light the night sky, accompanied by panoramic views of 3D mappings on downtown buildings.

Another new feature in their bid is Super Bowl Park Tailgate Town. Where fans will experience and enjoy a classic Sunday football tailgate, with the sights and sounds of live performances and LED televisions to view the action.

South Florida was chosen as a finalist in 2015 to potentially host Super Bowl LIII and Super Bowl LIV. If chosen, the games will take place at the newly revamped Sun Life Stadium. Once complete, the $450 million privately funded project will feature a modernized exterior, shade canopy and four high-definition scoreboards in addition to numerous enhancements.

"This is going to be something the likes of which residents of Miami-Dade haven’t seen before," South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee Chairman Rodney Barreto previously told The Miami Herald. "This is not the hottest city in America. It's the hottest city in the world."

Unlike past Super Bowls hosted in South Florida, this bid uses downtown as the core for hosting festivities. Under the proposal, Biscayne Boulevard would host a mile-long street party with live concerts and a Ferris wheel.

The AmericanAirlines Arena, Museum Park, Jungle Island and the Performing Arts Center would also host events.

The NFL will announce its decision on where to hold the 2016 and 2017 Super Bowls on May 22.

Super Bowl 50 will feature National Football Conference (NFC) champion Carolina Panthers taking on the American Football Conference (AFC) champion Denver Broncos at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara on Sunday, February 7th.
