Video Captures Suspect Casually Smoking Cigarette During Dania Beach Armed Robbery

An armed man robbed a small neighborhood shop Monday morning in Dania Beach and it was all caught on camera, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Just before noon on Nov. 9, BSO said an unidentified man entered the Dania Shop convenience store at 400 Northwest 1st Street and asked if he could wire money.

The store clerk said they didn't provide that service. The man left the store but returned moments later. He made his way behind the counter and pulled out a handgun.

BSO said the robber demanded money from the cash drawer, but the clerk was unable to open the register. She tried to get rid of the robber by throwing random items at the man who seemed unfazed and smoked a cigarette during the robbery.

The subject grabbed two laptops and a cellphone and ran from the store.

He is described as a black male, approximately 6-feet-tall in his 30s with a beard and a medium build. He wore a dark blue zip-up hooded sweatshirt, white or light colored shorts with black piping and white socks with black slider style sandals. He also wore a cap with a sun flap.

Surveillance video captured the moments leading up to the robbery. The robber can be seen talking to two other unidentified men whom detectives believe were acting as lookouts.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
