Investigators in Broward County are hoping that recently released surveillance video will help them capture two men involved in a distraction theft inside a hotel earlier this year.
Detectives from the Broward Sheriff’s Office say the two men committed the crime inside the Fairfield Inn and Suites located off Griffin Road in Dania Beach on the morning of May 2017.
In the video, a man in a dark colored shirt and pants with a Nike baseball cap can be seen talking to the victim, who police say was visiting from England, when another man comes up to the table and grabs her purse before fleeing.
The victim chases after the man – who was wearing a light colored shirt, pants and a hat – before he is able to get away in a maroon car. Detectives say the men communicated by phone as the snatcher held one to his ear the entire time while the other used earbuds.
